Disciplines in Danish rallysport
Club rally
Club rally is the beginner discipline in the rally sport. A club rally race consists of 8-10 time trials which are run at closed parking lots and factory areas. The trials include handbrake turns, slalom and other challenges, and it has to be completed as quickly as possible. If you touch the cones, you receive a penalty time. The average speed in club rally may not exceed 80 km/h.
It gives the driver a really good training in precision driving and car control, and there are always many competitors to this kind of race. There are 7 different classes, which goes from a rookie class for beginners, classes for road cars and up to classes for real rally cars with slick tires.
This is fun motorsport at a low cost!!
Rally Sprint.
Rally sprint is the most spectator friendly discipline in Danish rally. Rally sprint is run at special stages which are made as a track, where the drivers have to drive 3 or 3 laps each heat. This means, that there are several cars on the special stage at the same time, and this gives great entertainment to the spectators.
The speed is higher than in club rally, and the drivers are really pushing the limits. The championship in Danish rally sprint is the Yokohama Championship. The championship contains 8 preliminary races and one final race where the champions are found. It is a relative cheap and very fun rally discipline, where coziness and good race is a high priority.
There are also several big rally sprint races around the country, which doesn´t count to any championship, but have great prestige. The biggest rally sprint race in Denmark is Faarvang Rallyshow with more than 10.000 spectators.
Minirally
This is real rally! Minirally is a race with special stages on normal roads. The speed can reach up to 190 km/h. on small, winding roads, and the teamwork between the driver and the co-driver is crucial.
A Minirally is held over `one day, where the special stages are inspected by the drivers from early morning. This is done in a normal car, and this is when the rally team makes the pace notes for the rally. This makes it possible for the co-driver to give information about the road ahead on all the special stages, so the team can complete them fast and save.
Minirally also contains check points between the stages. This adds an extra dimension to the race, and if you don´t reach the check point at the right time, You´ll receive a time penalty.
The races are very challenging for both driver and co-driver, and there is an official championship for this race series.
Danish Rally Championship
Danish Rally Championship is the top of Danish rally. This is where the official Danish rally champion is found. The races are big events, which are held over 2 days, and the special stages are longer than in minirally. The pace notes are made the day before the race, and the races are very exciting and challenging for the rally teams. This is also by far the most expensive rally championship to compete in here in Denmark.
There are many really fine and fast cars in those races, and all the races are broadcasted on the Danish TV-channel TV2-Sport.
